Kentec was founded in 1985 by four original and experienced members as a privately owned, limited company, Kentec’s aim was to provide a manufacturing service to produce what the fire industry wanted. The original team contained all of the disciplines required for good customer liaison, sales , mechanical, and electrical design. Through a process of direct market research which involved talking to the pepole who know what is required, Kentec rapidly developed a series of products, which the industry needed. This philosophy remains at the core of the companies activities and future plans making Kentec one of the leading, independant manufactures of fire detection and protection control equipment in the world today. Steady growth and continous re-investment, have been major factors in Kentec’s development into a world class company. Quality and efficiency are regularly enhanced by investment in automated production and test equipment and updating of IT systems. New technologies such as surface mount, automatic production and computer aided design have been embraced to become part of companies culture. From an original office and factory area under 4,000 square feet, Kentec now have sheet metalwork, finishing, electronic production, automated test and office areas occuping in excess of 17,500 square feet at their Dartford manufacturing plant close to London. Continued investment in product development in product, has in recent years, seen Kentec emerge as a major player in the large, high technology systems market both at home and abroad, with exports now producing over 25% of annual sales. Third party product approvals are an essential requirment in todays fire protection market and Kentec have invested heavely in in gaining approvals and the prestigeuos BSI Kite mark licence for entire range of conventional, analogue addressable, extinguishant control panel and ancillaries. As privately owned company, Kentec remain committed to offer customers a personal service with the ability to react promptly to any special needs that customers may have. Kentec produce bespoke equipment for many of the larger UK fire systems companies and the name become a byword for quality and flexibility in many world markets. Kentec are an investor in people and are certified by both the BSI and LPCB to the ISO 9001:2000 quality assurance standard. Kentec is also a member in BFPSA. All Kentec panels are manufactured in accordance with and are certified to BS and they clearly display the BSI kite mark.
